Due to a new year flash sale at Best Buy we now have a laptop as the new "family computer" (i.e. mostly games for kids & sometimes me).... with a Ryzen 9 and NVIDIA GPU.

The market still makes no sense at all right now. Wouldn't be able to build a comparable desktop for the cost... mostly due to GPU availability / price gouging.

It's really rather zippy, but admittedly sounds like a bit of a jet plane.

To build a desktop PC that has the same CPUMark and GPUMark scores as this gaming laptop, same RAM & storage, using the cheapest comparable parts listed on NewEgg would come out at $350 more.... without considering the cost of a 4k screen.

Almost entirely down to the batshit crazy GPU prices still. Madness!
